Plug and Play Modularity!

Modular HAT is a sensor connectivity board with two modular sensor slots and six Grove System compatible ports. You can add our modular sensors, which are capable of environmental, ambient light, noise level sensing, and much more with ease. Moreover, external I2C, UART, GPIO, and Analog ports are available for external sensor connectivity.

Features

Modular HAT makes your Raspberry Pi modular.

  • Two modular sensor slots (with I2C, GPIO, PWM, Analog, Interrupt)
  • Grove System compatible ports (1xI2C, 1xUART, 2xGPIO, 2xAnalog)
  • Analog-to-Digital Converter over the SPI CS0.
  • 4Ch single-ended or 2Ch differential analog inputs are available.
  • Board temperature reading on the ADC IC.
  • Stackable Raspberry Pi header.
  • ID EEPROM for Raspberry Pi HAT specification compliance.

Documentation

Modular HAT comes with rich documentation located at docs.turta.io/raspberry-pi-hats/modular-hat address.

Technical Specifications

Modular HAT provides the following functionalities:

  • Modular Slots
There are two modular slots available for sensors and other modules.
  • Expansion Ports
Modular HAT has six 3.3V Grove System compatible ports.
    • Serial Port
    • I2C Port
    • Two Digital I/O Ports
    • Two Analog Input Ports (Analog Port 1 is shared with modular slot analog inputs.)
  • TI ADS1018 SPI Analog-to-Digital Converter
Measures 4x analog inputs and internal temperature. Distributed to modular slots and 2 Grove System compatible ports.
  • ID EEPROM
This memory holds manufacturer information, GPIO setup and device tree. The OS loads required drivers and configures GPIO pins according to the data on this memory. ID EEPROM is required for Raspberry Pi HAT specification compliance.

Samples

We have jump-start samples for each functionality. They are available on our GitHub repository. Their step by step guide is available on our documentation.

Easy Library Installation

Modular HAT comes with Raspbian libraries.

To install Modular HAT's Python 3 drivers for Raspbian, use "pip3 install turta-modularhat" command. This library is for analog and digital ports access. We also have an integrated library for all our modules. To install Modular System Python 3 drivers for Raspbian, use "pip3 install turta-modular" command.

Open-Source Libraries

Our libraries are open-sourced and available at https://github.com/Turta-io/Modular-HAT repository.

The open-sourced Turta Modular Library is available at https://github.com/Turta-io/Modular repository.
